Recently, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HSS) passed the No Surprises Act. This helps to ensure that consumers have as much access as possible to the billing of their healthcare services, including psychotherapy.
This requires therapists to provide a Good Faith Estimate (GFE). The GFE is an estimate of what the yearly expenditure will be if therapy is attended at a weekly or bi-weekly cadence. The estimates listed below are estimated self-pay rates, if you do not have health insurance or opt to pay out of pocket.
For three months of weekly therapy: $1830
For three months of bi-weekly therapy: $930
For six months of weekly therapy: $3630
For six months of bi-weekly therapy: $1830
For one year of weekly therapy: $7830
For one year of bi-weekly therapy: $3630
* Please note: *
These rates do not apply to clients with/using health insurance. These rates reflect the self-pay rates of $180 for the initial/intake session and $150 for each subsequent session*
This number may be higher at the end of the year if you increase your frequency of attending sessions.
This number may be lower at the end of the year if you graduate therapy before the year is over or see your therapist less frequently.
No action is required of you; however, it is encouraged that you review your intake paperwork and re-read the policies, including no show and late cancellation fees. Please note that these estimates do not reflect potential changes due to any cancellation/no show fees that may apply or appointments not held due to cancellations, vacations, and any other scheduling needs of either the client or therapist.
